Customer Challenge
Vertis Communications is a printing plant located in Lenexa, Kansas. Some of the challenges for printing facilities is keeping their production lines in operation and proper ventilation for the employees of the facility and surrounding areas. Vertis’ 210 ton Carrier air cooled chiller went down due to a leak in the chiller barrel.

DMI Solution
Within 24 hours of the failure, Design Mechanical installed a rental chiller to allow them to keep their production line in operation while their chiller was being repaired. A new chiller barrel was installed and the refrigerant side of the system dried out in 10 days, which allowed for switching back to their own chiller on schedule. What made this even more challenging was that this project was complete with very little interruption in operation, and it was accomplished in January during cold, ambient conditions.
