Customer Challenge
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Laboratory in Kansas City, Kansas deals in highly critical operations. To better their environmental efforts, the EPA wanted to set an example by conserving water and protecting the environment with captured rainwater (Gray Water) and using it in their cooling system.
DMI Solution
This Design/Build project is definitely one-of-a-kind. The process involved collecting condensate water from the air handling units and pumps and recycling it to use for the make-up water to the cooling tower. By piping this type of system to their mechanical system saves water consumption and provides a “Green Building”/LEED type project.
An identical system was also installed at the EPA Laboratory.
Highlights
Reduced water consumption by using condensate water collected from other units to use in the cooling tower.
