Customer Challenge
This 4-story Bank of the West is located in Lee's Summit, Missouri. Some of the challenges for this location include poor performance of their air conditioning system. The existing system included an older, under-performing Trane 75 ton DX condensing unit with reciprocating compressor. The existing Trane air handling unit had DX evaporator coils that had been repaired many times.
DMI Solution
DMI was called to provide a cost-effective solution to their relatively new HVAC system to provide adequate cooling during peak season. A new 90 ton Aquasnap packaged chiller and chilled water pumping package was installed. This system also included new fan motor, frequency drive, controls, chilled water coils, and improvements to the refrigerant piping, supply fan cabinet and ductwork. We were also able to tie-in to their existing pneumatic controls.
Highlights
Energy savings of approximately 15%, once the system was able to properly cool. The system performs so much better than the previous system that additional VAV boxes for cooling the 1st floor banking lobby were not required, ultimately saving the customer money.
