Customer Challenge
114 W. 11th Building is an eight-story office building located in downtown Kansas City, Missouri. It is managed by MC Realty Group, who also happens to be a tenant. Built in the 1920's, the mechanical system had been upgraded in different areas throughout the years, but didn't work together as a true mechanical system should. They needed better energy efficiency and the entire system to be controlled at the fingertips.

Design Mechanical, Inc.’s involvement in the project included managing the total MEP on a complete base system upgrade / renovation. This entire project was performed while tenants were running their day-to-day operations. Two floors of tenant finish were also part of the project that included the design and installation of their computer room.

DMI Solution
Design Mechanical, Inc.’s involvement in the project included managing the total MEP on the complete HVAC system upgrade / renovation. Careful coordination with all subcontractors was vital since the entire project was performed while tenants were running their day-to-day operations. Two floors of tenant finish were also part of the project that included the design and installation of their computer room.

Highlights
New chiller installation, new chilled water risers, controls and electrical upgrade. Two floors of tenant finish with computer room. The chiller hoist was carefully coordinated with the City as streets were closed. A tight fit through the roof was also part of the challenge.

“It has been a pleasure working with you and your team. They did an exceptional job.”
